London Marathon 2015 / Marathon Training / Marathon Training Week 1

Week One Stats

Week one = 100%

My Long Run today went well. I thought my plan was going to be scampered again due to illness, and again not me! I went to my mums so that my daughter could play with my niece and nephew whilst I ran. I always feel guilty that my husband has to entertain her whilst I am fitting in my long runs. But also, after working all week, I am away from her again at the weekend. So I thought if she was playing with her cousins, which she loves doing, she wouldn’t really notice me missing. But my mum is poorly, and I wasn’t sure it was a good idea to leave my mum with all the kids playing. Luckily, my brother was there to keep an eye on them.

So with all excuses exhuasted , off I went. My mum lives close to a lake, so my plan was to run to the lake, run around it and back. I had downloaded the Marathon Talk Podcast to listen to – I haven’t heard many since the last lead up to London. I can get bored with music, but listening to people helps me forget running sometimes! I may even venture into audiobooks this build up too!

Gorgeous day for a run

Considering all the wind and rain we are having, the weather was lovely. Bright and crisp. I set off at what I thought was a steady pace and just kept going. I thought there was a chance that I would tire towards the end of my run, but to my surprise it didn’t happen. I was really pleased with my splits as they were pretty consistent.

Mile 1 = 10:21, Mile 2 = 10:27, Mile 3 = 10:29, Mile 4 = 10:15, Mile 5 = 10:23

I am taking part in Jantastic again this year, and it’s always nice to log 100% for a week. I am part of the Run Mummy Run team (RMR). It such a great community to keep you motivated.

So stats for this week – they are not huge, but they are a start!

Tuesday – 21:15 min easy runs – 2.01 miles – pace 10:36mm

Wednesday – 30:21 mins easy run – 2.85 miles – pace 10:40mm

Friday – 38:25 mins – dreadmill run – 3.7 miles – pace 10:23mm

Sunday – 60:16 mins long run – 5.83 miles – pace 10:36mm

Total Miles = 14:39 miles

How is everyone’s training going?

An average runner that has found a passion for running and raising money/awareness for MNDA. I have completed London, New York, and Chicago marathons. I am tempted to go for the Six-Star finishers medal, running all the World Marathon Majors, but that's a dream in progress.
