10 Days to go - London Marathon Countdown

So there are only 10 days to go until I run my third London Marathon. As exciting as this is, I find it quite an emotional time too. It makes me think about my dad more than ever. I so wish that he could have seen me run at least one of my marathons (I know he would have teased me, saying been he could have done it faster! :-D)

Even though Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is becoming more well-known, thanks to the Ice Bucket Challenge, but I thought I would do a daily post highlighting some facts about MND.

What is MND?

Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves in the brain and spinal cord. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.

Although MND is the widely used generic term in the United Kingdom, Australia and parts of Europe, ALS is used more generically in the United States, Canada and South America.
